What a well-printed expert report contains
An expert report is a hybrid document: a technical part with measurements and plates, a legal part with references to the law, photographic exhibits, and possibly graphic surveys. The printing must handle all these elements without compromise.
Main text in color
Quality color printing for the body of the report, with legible tables, charts and technical diagrams. Double-sided on 90-100g paper to give the volume substance without weighing it down.
Sharp photographic exhibits
Site-inspection photos (structural damage, on-site surveys, details to document) printed in color on semi-coated paper, at high resolution. Layout of 2-4 photos per page with a technical caption.
Technical plates up to 107 cm
Plates, floor plans, graphic surveys printable on a Canon plotter with 5 water-based inks, maximum width 107 cm. Technical or photographic paper depending on use. We can fold the plates to A4 format to attach them to the bound volume.
Foil hardcover in 2 hours
The hardcover with gold or silver foil stamping is the top of the range for reports you want to present authoritatively. Seven foil colors available: gold, silver, bronze, fuchsia, black, white, light blue. Ready in 2 hours, guaranteed.
Thermal or spiral binding
For everyday reports, thermal binding is the standard option (clean, tidy, professional). For particularly voluminous reports, or technical reports that require frequent consultation, spiral binding is more practical.
Index and dividers
An analytical index at the opening, colored cardstock dividers between sections (preliminary remarks, findings, assessments, conclusions, exhibits), side tabs for quick reference. Details that make the difference for a judge or an opposing party's expert.
Who this service is for
Technical expert reports are complex jobs: each professional category has its own presentation conventions. We work regularly with five types of professionals.
Court-appointed experts (CTU)
Court-Appointed Technical Consultants (CTU) appointed by the judge. Their reports must be filed with the registry within precise deadlines: fast printing, multiple copies for the parties and the judge, understated binding.
Party-appointed experts (CTP)
Party-Appointed Technical Consultants (CTP) appointed by a law firm. Their report often rebuts or supplements that of the CTU: a level of printing that stands out is needed. This is where the foil hardcover does its job.
Building surveyors, structural engineers
Reports on structural damage, construction defects, stability assessments, post-earthquake surveys. Site-inspection photos + technical plates up to 107 cm + text section in a single bound volume.
Technology, IT and financial experts
Reports on IT systems (data breaches, online fraud), financial statements, transfer pricing, company valuations. Typically plainer volumes but with complex tables: the quality of the B/W printing counts more than color.
Forensic and medical experts
Medico-legal reports for cases of medical malpractice, personal injury, and INAIL (workplace injury) claims. They often contain diagnostic images (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs) that must be printed carefully so as not to lose detail.
Experts for civil and criminal cases
Party or court-appointed reports across the whole spectrum of civil and criminal litigation. We've worked with experts of the Rome bar since 2005, and we know the requirements of the registries of the Civil Court, the Supreme Court and the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR).
Why a well-printed report is worth two well-written ones
A technical expert report is above all an argument. The consultant analyzes, ascertains, assesses, concludes. But whoever reads it — a judge, an opposing party's expert, a lawyer — opens it with an expectation: that the document visually confirms the authority of its content. A report printed on standard 80g paper, with grainy photos and a floppy cover, seems less credible than the same report on premium paper, with sharp photos and a hardcover with professional printing. The content is identical; the perception is not.
GUUG has printed technical expert reports for court-appointed (CTU) and party (CTP) experts, building surveyors, structural engineers, medico-legal and IT experts since 2005. The most important reports — those the consultant wants to present with particular care, those that will become the subject of confrontation with the opposing party, those that stay on the judge's desk for months — we produce with a hardcover and gold or silver foil stamping on the cover and spine. It's our flagship service: within 2 hours from when the PDF reaches us, the report is ready at the counter. And the 2 hours are guaranteed, not estimated.
For technical reports with large-format plates (floor plans, surveys, structural diagrams), our Canon TX-4000 plotter prints up to 107 cm wide with five water-based inks from the Lucia line. It's a plotter designed for fine-art printing, so the colors are faithful, the gradients clean, the blacks deep. For reports showing site-inspection photographs, the details count: a structural crack photographed well and printed well is an argument; the same photo, grainy, is just a smudge on a sheet.
