What we 3D print

The FDM technology of the Creality K2 Plus suits a wide range of jobs: decorative and architectural models, functional prototypes, technical parts, custom objects and replacement parts. We recommend the right setup based on your piece.

🏗️

Architectural models

Scale models of buildings, site plans and urban layouts for architecture projects, university exams, competitions and client presentations.

🔧

Prototypes and technical parts

Form and function testing before series production. Mechanical components, mounts, brackets. With carbon-fibre PLA you get parts that are both rigid and lightweight.

⚙️

Replacement parts

Unobtainable components for vintage objects, specific mounts, parts for appliances or gadgets. Send the file (or a photo plus dimensions), we assess it and print.

🎨

Art objects and gadgets

Sculptures, replicas, decorative objects, corporate trophies, personalised gadgets for events. Build volume up to 35 cm per side for substantial pieces.

🎓

Thesis and university projects

For architecture, design and engineering students — including international students at Sapienza, Roma Tre, NABA, IED, Quasar and RUFA: models for theses, state exams and degree shows.

🎁

Gifts and party favours

Sports trophies, one-of-a-kind favours, wedding cake toppers, gadgets for corporate events. Custom shapes and colours (one material per print).

Our 2 materials

We chose two complementary materials: standard PLA for most jobs, and carbon-fibre PLA for parts that need stiffness and technical strength. We recommend the right one based on the piece you need.

🌽

Standard PLA

A plant-derived material, biodegradable in industrial composting. Excellent precision, clean finish, wide colour range. Ideal for architectural models, decorative objects, gadgets, visual prototypes and personalised gifts. Not suited to prolonged sun exposure or high temperatures (it deforms above 60°C).

🔬

Carbon-fibre PLA

PLA loaded with short carbon fibres: same process as standard PLA but with noticeably higher stiffness and lower weight. Matte finish with a technical look. Ideal for lightweight mechanical parts, brackets, mounts, functional prototypes and pieces that must resist deformation. Typical colour: matte black.

How it works

1️⃣

Send your file

STL, OBJ or 3MF file to stampa@guug.it. If you only have a sketch or drawing and need modelling, let us know: we will tell you whether we can help or recommend a 3D modeller.

2️⃣

Free quote

We analyse the file (volume, complexity, recommended material, estimated print time) and send you the price. You usually hear back within 24-48 working hours.

3️⃣

Printing

Once you confirm the quote, we start the print on the K2 Plus. Times range from a few hours for small pieces to days for large, complex models.

4️⃣

Pickup or shipping

Collect in store at Via di Porta Castello 29, Rome Prati — Vatican area — or we ship by courier to your address (extra cost).

Frequently asked questions

Which 3D printer do you use? +
We work with a Creality K2 Plus, a latest-generation FDM (fused deposition modelling) printer with CoreXY architecture and a 35×35×35 cm build volume — one of the largest you will find in a Rome print shop. It can print substantial pieces in a single job, with no need to split the model into parts.
Which materials do you print with? +
Two materials, chosen to cover 95% of cases: standard PLA (biodegradable, excellent precision, wide colour range) for models, gadgets, decorative objects and visual prototypes; carbon-fibre PLA (rigid, lightweight, matte black technical finish) for mechanical parts, mounts and functional prototypes. We do not print in resin (SLA) or other technical materials such as ABS/PETG/Nylon.
What file format should I send? +
The standard formats for 3D printing are STL, OBJ and 3MF, exportable from any 3D software (SketchUp, Blender, Tinkercad, Rhino, Fusion 360, Revit, FreeCAD). If you only have a sketch or technical drawing and need 3D modelling, let us know: we will assess whether we can help or point you to a trusted 3D modeller.
How much does a 3D print cost? +
The cost depends on several factors: the volume of the piece (material weight), the print time (machine hours have to be billed) and the chosen material (standard PLA is cheaper, carbon fibre slightly more expensive). We have no fixed price list because every piece is different: send us your STL file and we reply with a free, tailored quote within 24-48 hours.
How long does it take? +
It depends a lot on the piece. A small decorative object can take a few hours to print, a scale architectural model can take 1-3 days, and very large pieces (close to the 35 cm maximum volume) can take up to a week. Your quote always includes a realistic time estimate, covering any post-processing (support removal, clean-up).
Do you print in multiple colours at the same time? +
The base K2 Plus we use prints one material at a time: one piece = one colour. For multi-colour pieces, we can pause the print for a manual filament change at a specific height, or you can paint the piece after printing. For projects that need blended colours or complex decoration, we work out the best solution together at the quoting stage.
