Koefia thesis printing: what to know

The Accademia Internazionale d'Alta Moda e d'Arte del Costume Koefia is Italy's first fashion school, founded in Rome in 1951 by Countess Alba Toni Brasini ("Madame Koefia") and Count Ugo Brasini. 75 years of haute couture tradition, international E.A.B.H.E.S. accreditation, and an 86% professional placement rate at prestigious Maisons and Brands within a year of graduation.

Koefia is at Via Cola di Rienzo 203, in the Prati district. GUUG is at Via di Porta Castello 29, also in Prati. A 6-minute walk, 500 metres. Together with Quasar Institute and Unimarconi, we're in the same area where Koefia has its two campuses (the main one on Cola di Rienzo and the annex at Via Ezio 24). How do you print a Koefia collection book?

The final Koefia collection book has a typical structure: opening mood board, trend research, colour and fabric palette, fashion sketches (sketches and illustration), technical sheets (garment spec sheets), prototypes and fittings, and a final photographic lookbook. We print it in A3 or a custom format (30×24 landscape album), on matte or fine art cotton paper to bring out the colours, with a black or dusty pink hard cover and gold lettering. Do fashion sketches need to be printed on special paper?

Yes — for fashion sketches we recommend fine art cotton paper or heavyweight matte paper (200-250gsm): the colour rendering of fabrics and volumes is radically different from standard paper. Test print before the full run: drop by the shop with a sample, we print a trial page, you judge the result in person, then we run the whole book.

Altaroma contests require extra material: do you handle that too?

Yes, we regularly work with Koefia students presenting at Altaroma and other international contests. Lookbooks in custom landscape formats, business cards for the booth, large-format plotter totems for the presentation, portfolio magazines for the trade press. Fast turnaround: 24-48h for complete projects, even less if urgent.
