Photo printing in Rome

Glossy, matte or 100% cotton fine art paper. From standard 10x15 prints up to large format. Travel photos before you fly home, photographer portfolios, exhibitions, family memories — ready same day, often within 2 hours. English-speaking staff, 200 m from St. Peter's.

Three paper types, three radically different results

Paper choice is the single factor that changes the final look of a photo the most. Drop by the shop and see the samples in person: the difference only really shows when you hold them.

Glossy

Shiny surface, deep blacks, saturated colours. Ideal for landscapes, commercial portraits, fashion photography. It reflects light — less suited to framed prints in brightly lit rooms.

🌫️

Matte

Satin surface, no glare. For professional portraits, photos to frame, understated museum-style prints. Colour rendering is slightly softer than glossy.

🎨

Cotton fine art

100% cotton, with the tactile feel of an art gallery print. For photography portfolios, exhibitions, limited editions. Hahnemühle and Canson papers, lasting over 100 years when stored correctly.

Clear answers

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between glossy, matte and fine art paper? +
Glossy paper has a shiny surface that boosts contrast and saturation: ideal for colour-rich photos (landscapes, commercial portraits). Matte eliminates glare and looks more understated — perfect for professional portraits and framed photos. Fine art paper (Hahnemühle, Canson) is 100% cotton with the tactile feel of a gallery print: for portfolios, exhibitions, photographic limited editions. For the technical detail — blacks, reflections and longevity — read our photo paper guide.
What photo print sizes do you offer? +
Standard sizes: 10x15, 13x18, 15x21 (A5), 20x25, 20x30, 24x30, 30x40, 30x45. Large sizes: A3 (30x42), A2 (42x59), A1 (59x84). For prints beyond A2 see the large format printing page. Custom sizes (e.g. 50x70 panoramic, 60x60 square) are always possible with digital printing.
Do you print from digital files or from film? +
Digital files only (JPG, TIFF, PSD, PNG). For high-resolution scanning of film or vintage prints we have a professional scanner: see the scanning page, or bring us the film and we will tell you what is feasible. The minimum resolution for sharp prints is 240-300 dpi at final size.
How much does it cost to print 50 photos in 10x15? +
For 50 colour 10x15 photos on standard glossy or matte paper, prices start at around €15-20 (€0.30-0.40 per photo). The more photos you print, the less you pay per copy. For fine art quality (cotton paper) prices range from €1.50 to €3 per photo depending on size. Email your files to stampa@guug.it for an exact quote.
Do you make bound photo books? +
Yes — hardcover photo books with a personalised cover (printed directly onto the cover) and heavyweight matte or glossy paper inside. Custom formats (21x21 or 30x30 square, 21x30 panoramic landscape). Turnaround 3-5 working days. For details, drop by the shop with your files and we will prepare a tailored quote.
Should I print my photos in a shop or order online? +
It depends on the goal. In-shop printing wins when colour accuracy, paper samples in hand, large formats or same-day delivery matter; online is fine for many small everyday prints. We walk through it honestly in our in-shop vs online guide.
