Drop documents at Via di Porta Castello 29, or email a description (volume, size, formats) to stampa@guug.it for a quote.

2

We scan & check

High-resolution PDF with OCR by default. We name files the way you ask and merge or split as needed. You receive a confirmation when ready.

3

Files delivered via email, WeTransfer or your preferred secure channel. Originals returned with the files. No copies retained on our side.

Why GUUG for document scanning

Twenty years scanning for lawyers, embassies, architects, businesses and individuals in central Rome — and we still treat every job as if a single misplaced page would be a problem.

🇬🇧

English-speaking, always

Our staff handles file format conversations, resolution requirements, OCR languages and metadata conventions in fluent English. Useful when you are working under embassy or court deadlines and clarity matters.

🔒

Confidential by default

No file retention after delivery (unless you ask). No subcontracting. Scanning happens on local equipment in our shop, not sent out to a third party.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you scan and send back my documents? +
Most jobs go out the same day. Small documents (passport, contract, certificate, a few-pages file) are typically ready within an hour while you wait or run an errand nearby. Large jobs (full archive boxes, multi-volume legal files, hundreds of pages) are usually back within 24 hours, with files sent by email or WeTransfer to whichever address you specify.
Do you provide OCR (searchable PDF)? +
Yes — OCR is included by default for any document where it makes sense (typed text in Latin alphabet, basic table structures, common business languages including English, Italian, French, Spanish, German). The output is a fully searchable PDF: you can ctrl-F to find any word inside the document. For handwriting, faded carbon copies or unusual scripts we will tell you upfront whether OCR will be reliable.
Can you scan large-format documents (A1, A0, blueprints)? +
Yes. We have a wide-format scanner that handles up to 914 mm in width (A0 landscape, architectural plans, surveyor maps, large posters, vintage drawings). For architects, engineers and surveyors near the Prati and Vatican area this is one of our most-requested services.
Do you accept bound books and fragile originals? +
Yes, with care. We use a book-friendly scanner that does not require opening volumes to 180° — it works at around 110-120° to protect bindings. For very old, fragile or valuable originals (rare books, historical documents, embassy archives, legal originals that cannot leave the room) we can quote on-site scanning at your premises.
Is the service confidential? Can law firms and embassies use it safely? +
Yes. We handle confidential documents every day for law firms, embassies, accountants and notaries in the Vatican / Prati area. Documents are scanned on local equipment, files are delivered by your preferred secure channel, and we do not retain copies once the job is delivered (unless you specifically ask us to keep them for a re-send window).
What about pricing? +
Pricing depends on volume, format size and whether OCR / file naming / indexing is required. For small jobs (under 50 pages, standard A4) prices start at a few euros. For larger projects (archive digitization, multi-volume legal files, large-format batches) we send a written quote by email within the hour. No setup fees, no minimum order — even a single sheet is fine.
Do you offer pickup and delivery for businesses nearby? +
For regular B2B clients in the Prati, Borgo, Vaticano and central Rome area we can arrange pickup and delivery on request — typically for jobs that are large enough to make the trip worth it, or as part of an ongoing service agreement. Ask when you send the quote request.
Where are you and how do I reach you? +
Via di Porta Castello 29, 00193 Rome — 200 metres from St. Peter's Square, 5 minutes' walk from Castel Sant'Angelo, 8 minutes from Ottaviano metro station (line A). Mon-Fri 09:00-19:00. You can also send files in advance to stampa@guug.it or call +39 06 4424 0707.
