Who this service is for

We work with anyone who wants professional-quality art prints at an accessible price, without going all the way to a specialist museum lab. Think of us if you are an emerging artist, a photographer printing for a portfolio or an exhibition, an illustrator, an interior decorator — or a visitor to Rome who wants a beautiful print to take home.

🎨

Artists

Reproductions of your originals for gallery sales, events, art fairs, markets, portfolios. Faithful printing on hammered Modigliani paper that gives your work painterly depth and texture.

📸

Photographers

Portfolio prints, material for exhibitions, prints to sell to clients after a shoot. Glossy, satin or matte photographic papers depending on the style of your work.

🖋️

Illustrators

Prints of illustrations for portfolios, comic fairs, direct sales, commissioned gifts. Crisp lines and saturated colours render beautifully on premium papers.

🏛️

Decorators and galleries

Decorative reproductions for interior design, hotels, restaurants, offices. Exhibition material for local galleries and ateliers that host regular shows.

The papers we use

Two families of premium papers, chosen to cover the most common needs of artists and photographers. Not sure which to pick? Drop by the shop — paper samples are much easier to judge in your hands. For how glossy, matte and cotton papers differ in blacks, reflections and longevity, see our photo paper guide.

🎨 Modigliani Fedrigoni 200g

Premium Italian paper with a hammered texture and natural white tone. Perfect for reproductions of paintings, watercolours and illustrations where you want painterly depth.

🖼️ Modigliani Fedrigoni 260g

Same hammered texture, heavier weight for more important prints, exhibitions, sales. The feel in the hand immediately says "finished work".

Glossy photographic paper

Brilliant colours, deep blacks, high contrast. Ideal for photographs with vivid colours, landscapes, urban subjects, commercial photography.

📷 Satin photographic paper

A balance of brilliance and softness. No harsh reflections, excellent rendering of skin tones and detail. The most requested by photographers.

🌫️ Matte photographic paper

Soft tones, no glare, perfect for portrait photography, black and white, delicate subjects. A more "fine art" look while staying on a photographic base.

🔍 Come see the samples

We keep physical samples of every paper in the shop. Choosing is far easier in person than from a description. Ten minutes and the file you want to print are all you need.

How it works, step by step

1️⃣

Send your file

High-resolution TIFF or JPEG (minimum 240 dpi at final size, ideally 300 dpi). sRGB or Adobe RGB profile. Email it to stampa@guug.it.

2️⃣

Free file check

We check resolution, colour profile and any artefacts. If something needs fixing, we tell you in plain English before printing.

3️⃣

A4 test print

For important projects we recommend an A4 proof (€10-15) on your chosen paper. Credited towards the final job if you confirm within 7 days.

4️⃣

Print and pickup

Canon TX-4000 plotter with 5 water-based inks, maximum width 107 cm. Pick up in store in a rigid tube, or insured courier shipping.

Honest about the limits of our service

Let's be clear: traditional giclée printing (12 pigment inks on certified cotton paper, 100-200 year museum archival rating) is a specialist service offered by labs dedicated exclusively to museum-grade fine art. At GUUG we offer something different: professional-quality art printing on a Canon TX-4000 plotter with 5 water-based Lucia inks, on premium — but not cotton — papers.

What does that mean for you? Our prints are perfect for gallery sales, exhibitions, art markets, photographic portfolios, interior decoration, commissioned gifts, illustration reproductions — and as art prints to take home from Rome. Excellent colour rendering, premium papers, at a far more accessible price than a specialist lab.

When we are NOT the right choice: if you sell certified museum editions rated "200-year archival" with official numbering, or if your prints go into major international gallery collections, a specialist lab is the better option. Tell us about your project anyway: we will say honestly whether we are the right fit or another supplier would serve you better.

Clear answers

Frequently asked questions

What do you mean by fine art printing? +
In our case: professional-quality art printing on premium papers (hammered Fedrigoni Modigliani or photographic papers), on a precision plotter with a free file check. It is not traditional giclée for museum archives (which requires a 12-pigment-ink plotter and certified cotton paper). It is excellent art printing for artists, photographers, illustrators and decorators who want quality without specialist-lab prices.
Which papers do you use for art printing? +
Two main families: Fedrigoni Modigliani (premium Italian paper with a hammered texture, 200g or 260g, perfect for reproductions of paintings and illustrations) and premium photographic papers in the three classic finishes (glossy, satin, matte) for photography and high-contrast images. We do not work with cotton papers such as Hahnemühle Photo Rag, which require specific pigment inks.
How wide can you print? +
Our Canon TX-4000 plotter prints up to 107 cm wide. We print from A4 up to 107 cm × practically unlimited length. For works wider than 107 cm we print in carefully joined panels, or scale the image proportionally. Send us the size you need and we will tell you straight away whether it fits.
Can I see paper samples before ordering? +
Yes — we keep physical samples of all our papers in the shop, and our staff speaks English. Ten minutes and the file you want to print are enough: we show you how it renders on each paper and decide together. The difference between Modigliani 200g and a matte photographic paper only really comes across in person.
Do you make a test print before the final run? +
Yes, for important projects we always recommend an A4 proof on your chosen paper: €10-15, credited towards the final job if you confirm within 7 days. If you work on a calibrated monitor, we can provide the plotter's base ICC profile so you can also soft-proof on screen before printing.
How long until my print is ready? +
For standard projects, 24-48 hours after file confirmation. Single prints on papers we keep in stock can be same-day. More complex projects (multiple papers, soft proofing, an intermediate test print) take 3-5 working days. Rush jobs can be arranged — just tell us and we will work it out.
Can I order a single print? +
Yes, we work on single pieces too. Typical for artists who want one print as a gift, a proof before a larger run, or a commissioned work for a specific client. Also popular with visitors to Rome who want a single art print to take home. No minimum quantities.
