Who the service is designed for
We work with people who want professional-quality art prints at an affordable price, without going to a specialist museum-grade lab. Think of us if you're an emerging artist, a photographer producing prints for a portfolio or exhibitions, an illustrator, or an interior decorator.
Emerging artists
Reproductions of your originals for sale in a local gallery, at events, art fairs, art markets, or for a portfolio. Faithful printing on hammered Modigliani paper that gives the work depth and a painterly texture.
Photographers
Portfolio printing, material for local exhibitions, selling prints to clients after a shoot. Glossy, satin or matte photographic papers depending on the style of your work.
Illustrators
Illustration prints for portfolios, comic conventions, direct sales, commissioned gifts. Good rendering of crisp lines and saturated colours on premium papers.
Decorators and galleries
Decorative reproductions for interior design, hotels, restaurants, offices. Display material for local galleries and studios that run periodic exhibitions.
The papers we use
Two families of premium papers, chosen to cover the most common needs of artists and photographers. Not sure which to pick? Come to the shop: samples are far easier to judge in hand.
Modigliani Fedrigoni 200g
Premium Italian paper with a hammered texture and natural white. Perfect for reproductions of paintings, watercolours and illustrations where you want to give the work painterly depth.
Modigliani Fedrigoni 260g
Same hammered texture, heavier weight for more important prints, exhibitions, sales. The feel in hand immediately says "finished work".
Glossy photographic paper
Bright colours, deep blacks, high contrast. Ideal for photographs with vivid colours, landscapes, urban subjects and commercial photography.
Satin photographic paper
A balance between brightness and softness. No strong glare, excellent rendering of skin tones and detail. The most requested by photographers.
Matte photographic paper
Soft tones, no glare, perfect for portrait photography, B&W and delicate subjects. A more "fine art" look while still on a photographic support.
Come and see the samples
In the shop we keep physical samples of every paper. Choosing is much easier in person than from a description. Just 10 minutes and the file you want to print.
How it works, step by step
You send the file
High-resolution TIFF or JPEG (minimum 240 dpi at final size, ideally 300 dpi). sRGB or Adobe RGB profile. Email to stampa@guug.it.
Free check
We check resolution, colour profile and any artefacts. If needed, we write to you about what to fix before printing.
A4 test print
For important projects we recommend an A4 test (€ 10-15) on the chosen paper. Deductible from the final job if you confirm within 7 days.
Printing and pickup
Canon TX-4000 plotter with 5 water-based inks, max width 107 cm. Pickup at the shop in a rigid tube or shipping by insured courier.
Honesty about the limits of our service
We want to be clear: traditional giclée (12 pigment inks on certified cotton paper, museum-grade archival life of 100-200 years) is a specialist service provided by labs dedicated solely to museum fine art. At GUUG we offer something different: professional-quality art printing on a Canon TX-4000 plotter with 5 water-based Lucia inks, on premium but non-cotton papers.
What does this mean for you? Our prints are perfect for sale in a local gallery, exhibitions, art markets, photography portfolios, decoration, commissioned gifts and illustration reproductions. Excellent colour rendering, a premium support, and a price far more affordable than a specialist lab.
When we're NOT the right choice: if you need to sell certified museum editions with a "200-year archival" claim and official numbering, or if your prints end up in the collections of major international galleries, a specialist lab is the way to go. Tell us about the project anyway: we'll honestly say whether we're the right choice or whether another supplier suits you better.
