What we print for a law firm

Every document has its own rules: cover format, page numbering, order of attachments, copies to file. We have worked for years with lawyers in the historic centre and we know the requirements of Rome's court registries.

Why GUUG works for those who wear the robe

It's not just about paper and ink. Anyone working in a law firm has three things that matter above the rest: the deadline, confidentiality, and the quality of what they place in the judge's hands.

A 10-minute walk from the Cassation

Print at 8:30, reach the Supreme Court registry before 1 pm. Same for the Council of State (1.5 km), TAR Lazio (2 km), Court of Auditors (2.5 km). No parking to hunt for downtown, no time lost in Rome traffic.

Thermal in 5 minutes, hardback in 2 hours

Thermal binding of a case file is ready while your trainee grabs a coffee across the street. For expert reports and appeals you want to present with authority, the hardback cover with gold or silver foil stamping comes off the counter in 2 hours, guaranteed.

Confidentiality, no third-party platforms

We receive files by direct email at stampa@guug.it or WhatsApp, print them on our machines in the shop, and hand them to you. No uploads to third-party cloud portals, no accounts to create, no files left lying around on external servers.

A real person on the phone

When you need an urgent quote at 6:30 pm on a Friday, you speak with someone who understands what you're talking about, not an automated answering machine. Every firm has its own way of binding case files: we remember it.

How it works, in practice

Three steps, no surprises on price, one point of contact who answers when you call.

You send the PDF

By email to stampa@guug.it or via WhatsApp at +39 06 4424 0707. Specify number of copies, single/double-sided, B/W or colour, and type of binding. If you're not sure, we advise you based on the type of document.

We confirm cost and time

Within 30 minutes we reply with a final quote and a pickup time. If it's urgent for today's filing, we tell you right away; if layout changes are needed before printing, we make them.

You pick up at the counter

Ready when you arrive, checked page by page before we hand it over. If you're rushing towards Piazza Cavour or Piazzale Clodio, we call you when it's nearly done — no time wasted waiting in the shop.

How you pay: pay-as-you-go or firm account

No rigid price lists. We quote every job based on copies, format and binding. For invoicing you have two options; choose based on your firm's volume.

Pay-as-you-go, single invoice

For occasional jobs: you pay on pickup — cash, debit card, credit card, contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Invoice made out to the firm or to the end client, ready on the spot. We keep your details on file, so we don't ask for them every time.

Firm account with monthly invoice

For firms that work with us regularly, we open an account with a single monthly invoice, payment at 30 days. One invoice at month-end, no card at the till every time, no expense report to file with the partner.

Courts within walking distance of Via di Porta Castello 29

Times calculated with Google Maps, at a normal pace without rushing. Print here, reach the registry with the file in hand and time to spare before the counter closes.

We have worked with the Rome bar since 2005

GUUG opened at Via di Porta Castello 29 in 2005. Since then, the Prati district aside, we have seen two things change: the way documents are filed — increasingly electronic, though paper remains indispensable at many stages of a case — and the speed with which a firm expects its case files to be ready. On fast filing and binding quality we never compromise: a poorly printed brief is an embarrassment before a judge.

We print regularly for law firms in the historic centre: civil, criminal, administrative and tax lawyers. We know the small differences between the requirements of the various registries: the format the Cassation wants for appeals, the way the Civil Court prefers to see attachments, the numbering convention used at the TAR. These are details that make the difference between a case file accepted at a glance and one sent back for corrections.

Our location is the first asset, but on its own it's not enough. What brings clients back are three things. First: speed. Thermal binding comes out in 5 minutes; double-sided B/W printing on large volumes runs at 50+ pages per minute on professional machines. Second: confidentiality. Our clients' files stay on our local computers only for as long as printing strictly requires — no uploads to third-party clouds, no accounts on external platforms. Third: the fact that, when you call, the same person always answers — one who already knows how your firm wants its copies.

On costs we are transparent but we don't publish a price list. The price of a case file depends on too many variables — number of copies, format, single/double-sided, type of binding, custom cover — to be reduced to a table. For every request you'll receive a quote by email within 30 minutes, with cost and pickup time. For firms that work with us several times a month, we open an account with a single monthly invoice.

If you need to print something urgent before a filing — a case file, an appeal, an expert report, a certified copy of a notarial deed — send us the PDF at stampa@guug.it or via WhatsApp at 06 4424 0707. We reply right away with timing and cost. If you prefer to come to the shop, we're at Via di Porta Castello 29, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 7 pm.

Frequently asked questions

How long until a case file is ready?
For a standard case file (50-200 pages, thermal binding, simple cover) it takes 30-60 minutes from when the PDF reaches us, if the machines aren't queued. For large volumes (over 500 pages) or multiple copies, we calculate exact times in the quote. For deadlines before 1 pm (registry counter filing) we recommend sending us the file by 11 am, so we have margin.
How do you handle file confidentiality?
Files arrive by direct email at stampa@guug.it or via WhatsApp. They stay on the shop's local computers only for as long as printing requires, then they are deleted. We never upload them to third-party cloud services, we don't share them with other clients, no uploads to external platforms. Printing takes place in the shop on our machines, always overseen by GUUG staff. For particularly sensitive cases we can agree on a specific procedure.
Do you print large volumes (case files over 500 pages)?
Yes, it's one of the things we do most often. Our professional B/W printers run over 50 pages per minute on standard 80g paper, with automatic double-sided printing and progressive numbering. For multiple copies of large volumes (e.g. 5 copies of 1,000 pages each) we calculate time and cost in the quote. Thermal binding holds up to about 400 pages per volume; beyond that, we recommend spiral binding or splitting into multiple volumes.
How does monthly invoicing work for firms?
For firms that work with us regularly we open an internal account: each job is recorded with a description, number of copies and cost, and at month-end we issue a single invoice made out to the firm (or to the client, if you prefer to pass it on). Payment at 30 days by bank transfer. No minimum-volume requirement, no penalty if in a given month you have no jobs. To set it up, email us at stampa@guug.it with billing details and a firm contact.
Do you print custom covers with the firm's logo?
Yes. We can print covers with the firm's logo, letterhead, client or case details. For expert reports and work you want to present with special care, the hardback cover with gold or silver foil stamping is the top of the range — ready in 2 hours, guaranteed. For standard case-file covers just send us the template; once the firm's file is set up, subsequent ones can be reproduced at reduced cost.
Does an appeal to the Cassation require special printing?
The Supreme Court expects copies in standard A4 format, tidy, with clear pagination and well-separated attachments. There is no formal requirement for a particular binding, but practice calls for thermal or spiral binding that holds everything together while the judge consults it. For the spine, some firms prefer to print the appellant's name / R.G. number — tell us and we do it. The number of copies to file is set by your Cassation lawyer based on the composition of the panel.
Do you work on Saturdays for Monday deadlines?
We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For procedural deadlines on Monday morning, we recommend sending us the file by Friday afternoon: we work until 7 pm, and if we can't finish before Friday's closing, we schedule the print for the Monday reopening at 9 am. For extremely urgent jobs outside opening hours, send us an email with the details anyway: we try to organise ourselves.
Can I open a firm account if I have an S.t.p. or a professional association?
Yes. The account can be in the name of a sole practice, a professional association of lawyers, an S.t.p. (professional partnership), or even a single lawyer who wants to consolidate the work for their practice. We just need the correct billing details (name, VAT number, tax code, PEC address and recipient code for electronic invoicing). Send us the details at stampa@guug.it and we activate the account within 24 hours.
