Five fold types, five different effects

The fold radically changes how the message is read. Choose it based on the narrative you want to create: linear, with a surprise, or in self-contained sections.

Roll fold · 3 panels

The most common fold for tourist leaflets, service price lists and company brochures. One central fold with two outer panels closing like a wallet. Six reading faces.

Accordion fold · 3-4 panels

Zig-zag folds all at the same height. It opens like a map. Ideal for timelines, infographics, product sequences and event maps.

Cross fold · 4 panels

A double fold at right angles. It opens into a large A2 or A1 format to hang up. For event posters, cultural maps and large wall programmes.

Gate fold · 4 panels

The two outer panels close at the centre like shutters. A "dramatic" opening effect, ideal for fashion catalogues and single-product presentations.

Simple · 2 panels

A single central fold: four faces in total. The most affordable and direct leaflet. Great for elegant invitations, concise programmes and short price lists.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a folded leaflet and a brochure?

A folded leaflet is a single folded sheet (A4, A3 or custom formats) that opens into 2, 3, 4 or 6 panels. It is not bound. A brochure, on the other hand, often means a bound multi-page booklet, even though the two terms are used interchangeably in marketing. For multi-page print, see the booklets page.

What fold types do you offer?

The most common types: roll fold (3 panels, the classic tourist leaflet), accordion fold (3-4 panels, each at the same height), cross fold (4 panels with a double fold), Z fold (3 zig-zag panels) and gate fold (4 panels, the outer ones closing at the centre). Trimming and creasing are included in the service.

Which paper weight is best for a folded leaflet?

For A4 3-panel leaflets we recommend 130g glossy or matte coated paper: stiff enough to stay open in hand, thin enough to fold cleanly without cracking. For more luxurious projects (wine lists, hotel price lists) go up to 170g or 200g. For minimalist catalogues, natural FSC paper at 120-150g.

How much do 500 A4 3-panel leaflets cost?

For 500 A4 3-panel leaflets in colour, double-sided, on 130g coated paper, prices start from about € 100-130 (€ 0.20-0.26 per copy). Higher runs lower the cost: at 2,000 copies the unit cost drops by 40%. For an exact quote, send the PDF to stampa@guug.it.

Can I see a physical sample before ordering?

Yes. For large orders (1,000+ copies) or with special finishes (lamination, special paper, custom format), we prepare a single sample free of charge for you to see before launching the full print run. Come to the shop to collect it or we can mail it to you.
