Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how this Website is managed with regard to the use of cookies and the processing of personal data of users/visitors who consult it.

This notice is provided, pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR), Article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003, the so-called “Privacy Code”), and the Italian Data Protection Authority’s general decision of 8 May 2014 on cookies, to those who connect to the website www.guug.it.

This notice applies only to the website mentioned above (hereinafter the “Website” or “this Website”) and any related subdomains, and not to other websites that users may consult via links.

The Website is owned and operated by GUUG s.r.l.
GUUG s.r.l. ensures compliance with personal data protection regulations.
Users/visitors are invited to read this Privacy Policy carefully before submitting any personal information and/or completing any electronic form on the Website.

Types of Data Processed and Purposes of Processing

1. Browsing data and retention

The IT systems and software procedures used to operate this Website acquire, during normal operation, certain data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This information is not collected to be associated with identified data subjects, but, by its very nature, could—through processing and association with data held by third parties—allow users/visitors to be identified (e.g. IP address, domain names of the computers used by users connecting to the Website, response status codes returned by the server, browser type, start and end times of the browsing session, any account identifier and activities carried out on the Website, etc.).

These data are used solely for statistical information and to verify the proper functioning of the Website. The data are retained for no longer than six months, without prejudice to further retention for the investigation of computer offences against the Website or to comply with specific legal obligations.
No data deriving from the web service will be disseminated.

2. Cookies

2.1 General information about cookies

Cookies are small text files that the websites visited by users send to their terminals (usually the browser), where they are stored to be retransmitted to the same sites at the next visit via the same terminal. Each site may also allow transmission of so-called “third-party cookies,” i.e. cookies generated by websites other than the one the user is visiting (through items on the page such as banners, images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains).

Based on their duration, cookies are classified as session cookies (temporary, deleted automatically from the terminal at the end of the browsing session when the browser is closed) or persistent cookies (stored on the terminal until their expiry or deletion by the user).

Cookies have different purposes. They are primarily used to enable communications or to provide the service requested by the user; specifically, they enable and optimise site operation, perform IT authentication and prevent abuse, monitor sessions, and improve user experience (e.g. keeping the login active within reserved areas without re-entering user ID and password, and storing user-specific information such as preferences, browser type, and device).

These are called “technical” cookies (no user consent is required), because without them certain operations could not be performed or would be more complex and/or less secure.

Conversely, if cookies are used for other purposes—typically to analyse behaviour and send personalised promotional/advertising messages (“profiling” cookies)—or even solely to obtain, via third-party services, aggregated information on the number of users and how they visit the site (“analytics” cookies), user consent is required. In accordance with applicable law (Privacy Code and the Authority’s decision of 8 May 2014), before such cookies are sent to the terminal, when accessing the home page or any other page of the site, a banner is immediately displayed prominently with a short notice on the use of cookies and the collection of consent, which the user may give by continuing to browse (e.g. selecting an element under the banner or closing the banner).

In any case, cookies can be read or modified only by the website that generated them; they cannot be used to retrieve any data from the user’s terminal and cannot transmit computer viruses. Some cookie functions can also be performed by other technologies; therefore, in this policy, the term “cookies” refers to cookies and similar technologies.

2.2 Use of cookies on this Website

This Website may use session cookies and persistent cookies. The types of cookies directly generated by this Website include:

Technical cookies, used for:
a) performing online purchases of services/products (managing the “shopping cart” by storing selected items) and related payments;
b) authentication and management of a browsing session (e.g. identifying and validating the user to access the Reserved Area);
c) security purposes (e.g. tracking failed logins to identify possible abuses in authentication and prevent fraud);
d) customising the user interface (e.g. recording preferences such as language, currency, page display format, connection area);
e) improved usability of the site and its audiovisual contents (e.g. running flash-type programs);
f) proper functioning of the connection (e.g. appropriately load-balancing user requests across multiple servers).

2.3 Third-party cookies

This Website may also allow the transmission of third-party cookies to the user’s terminal, set by partners with whom GUUG collaborates. GUUG acts solely as a technical intermediary to send such cookies and does not manage their operation (and therefore has no control over, nor access to, the information collected). Their functioning is the responsibility of those third parties. For these cookies, users can access the third-party notices and consent forms via the links below. The third party is:

a) Providers whose services GUUG uses to collect aggregated/statistical information about users visiting this Website. Specifically:
Google Analytics, provided by Google Inc. – http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/

2.4 Managing cookie preferences

Users can manage cookies via their browser.

A) Browser settings
Users can manage their cookie preferences using features available in common browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), which allow cookies to be deleted/removed (all or some) or browser settings to be changed to block or limit cookie transmission to specific sites. Instructions on configuring browser settings (generally accessible from the “Tools” menu) are available on the support pages of the respective browser providers (also findable via any search engine).

Disabling cookies does not, in itself, prevent use of the Website’s services; however, if all cookies, including technical cookies, are deleted/blocked, some operations may not be possible or may be more complex and/or less secure—for example actions within the Reserved Areas of the Website (cookies allow user identification to be performed and maintained within the session).

3. Data Provided Voluntarily by Users/Visitors

If users/visitors, while connected to this Website, submit their personal data to access certain services or to send requests by email, this entails the acquisition by GUUG s.r.l. of the sender’s address and/or any other personal data, which will be processed solely to respond to the request or to provide the requested service.
Personal data provided by users/visitors will be disclosed to third parties only where such communication is necessary to fulfil the users’/visitors’ requests.

Methods of Processing

Processing is carried out using IT and telematic tools and/or manually (e.g. on paper) for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which the data were collected and, in any case, in accordance with current legal provisions.

Optional Nature of Data Provision

Except for browsing data, users/visitors are free to provide their personal data. Failure to provide such data may only result in the inability to obtain what has been requested.

Data Controller and Persons Authorised to Process Data

The Data Controller is GUUG s.r.l., based in Rome. Tel. 06-44240707.

The data of users/visitors of this Website will be processed by employees of the functions that manage the Website, the Security function, and other technical/operational functions. Employees have been authorised to process personal data and have received appropriate operating instructions.
